| Overview The Volkswagen CC four-door coupe combines sports car dynamics and interior comfort usually associated with a sedan. The 2012 Volkswagen CC is a premium midsize sedan that is built on the same design platform as the Passat and Jetta. The car has a coupe-like raked roofline and seating for four instead of five. The CC is available in four trims: Sport, Luxury, VR6 Sport, and VR6 4Motion trim. Available features include front and rear obstacle detection, a navigation system with rearview camera, leather upholstery, a navigation system and a power sunroof. Powertrain and Performance The FWD Volkswagen CC Sport and Luxury derive power from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder good for 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. On the Sport, a six-speed manual transmission is standard and a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission (DSG) is optional. DSG is standard on the Luxury trim. The fuel economy estimates stand at 22 mpg city/31 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined with either transmission.
The VR6 Sport and VR6 4Motion versions receive a 280-hp 3.6-liter V6 coupled with the 6-speed automatic. A floor shifter can manually operate the automatic transmission in 4-cylinder models; V6 versions have steering-wheel paddles for the same. VR6 4Motion models come with all-wheel drive; while four-cylinder models are front-wheel drive only. Fuel economy is estimated to be 19/29 mpg (city/highway) with automatic transmission.
Build and Styling The CC has the 2.0T's adoption of VW's six-speed automated-clutch DSG transmission (Replacing the last year's conventional six-speed automatic), standard Bluetooth, a touch screen-operated audio system, new wood accents for the VR6 and rear badging that shows "CC" and indicates the trim level. The V6 engine is now available only with the VR6 4Motion Executive trim (the VR6 Sport model has been eliminated). Some features have simply been shuffled between trim levels.
The 2012 Volkswagen CC has a long hood, sweeping roofline, and a short trunk lid. The car has an athletic look highlighted by large wheels and tires, a deep front air dam, and a prominent grille. Even in the base trim, the Volkswagen CC is well appointed with exquisite fit and finish. Inside the cabin, the four individual sport seats sit low to provide a sportier driving experience.
The 2012 Volkswagen CC Sport model is equipped with 17-inch Phoenix alloy wheels, 3-year/36,000-mile (whichever occurs first) no-charge scheduled Carefree Maintenance Program (like all Volkswagen models), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), 8 speakers, touch screen Premium VIII sound system, SIRIUS Satellite Radio with 3-month trial subscription, Media Device Interface (MDI) with iPod cable, 12-way power adjustable front seats with 4-way power lumbar support and V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces.
The Luxury adds 18-inch Daytona alloy wheels, halogen reflector lens fog lights, integrated into front bumper, power-operated, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals and memory, climatronic dual-zone electronic climate control with pollen filter, RNS 315 navigation system, full-brushed aluminum interior trim, heated windshield washer nozzles and two optional trims - Lux Plus and Lux Limited.
Six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic and Sport mode, 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, 18-inch Polished Interlagos alloy wheels, leather seating surfaces, Park Distance Control (PDC) system, with front and rear proximity sensors, Dynaudio premium sound system and a three-spoke leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with Tiptronic paddle shifters are the key features of the V6 4Motion Executive model.
